The Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership (MBCP) and Youth Maryland Ornithological Society (YMOS) once again united the expertise of professional conservationists and the passion of youth birders at the 2nd Annual Maryland Bird Symposium. This year we will look at the recent study documenting the loss of 3 billion birds since 1970 and the steps being taken to stem population declines in Maryland. The event was held on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

The first Symposium marked the launch of the Maryland Avian Research & Conservation (MARC) Fund for Youth.  This fund empowers youth to conduct avian research or conservation. After symposium expenses are covered, all proceeds go directly into the MARC Fund. Our goal for the 2nd Bird Symposium is to increase the MARC Fund to $10,000. This will allow us to work with youth on larger research, conservation, or community engagement projects in Maryland or anywhere one of Maryland’s 143 Species of Greatest Conservation Need breed, migrate through, or winter. To do this, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! We invite you to become a sponsor of the Symposium and help Maryland youth take their passion for birds to the next level. To inquire about sponsorships, Contact Us Here.

Our KEYNOTE SPEAKERS are Mike Parr, President of American Bird Conservancy, and Autumn-Lynn Harrison, manager of the Migratory Connectivity Project at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center.
