The Maryland Bird Conservation Symposium started in 2019 as a collaboration of the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership (MBCP) and Youth division of Maryland Ornithological Society (YMOS) as a way to highlight current bird conservation priorities and the technologies, research, and conservation taking place to conserve Maryland’s wild bird populations. Nearly 3 billion birds have been lost from North America’s population of wild birds. The symposium brings academia, public and private organizations, and youth together to learn and share with the mutual goal of stemming population declines and the loss of habitat in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic Region.
