SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
Gabriel Foley joined Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership as its Executive Director in late 2024. As coordinator of the Maryland & DC Breeding Bird Atlas 3, Gabriel worked with nearly 2,500 volunteers documenting breeding birds across the region. Originally from Canada, Gabriel’s own research has focused on bird behavior, including habitat selection in nighthawks and nest-building in weavers—research that earned him recognition as a Queen Elizabeth Scholar. Gabriel is available to speak about bird conservation in Maryland or any of MBPC’s programs.
Alex Pellegrini is the Farmland Raptor Program Coordinator for the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership, and a naturalist for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission at Patuxent River Park in Prince George’s County. Alex can share insights from his research on barn owls, kestrels, and short-eared owls, highlighting the life histories and habitat needs of these declining species. Alex can speak about how habitat restoration, landowner partnerships, and global collaboration are shaping efforts to protect these species both locally and worldwide.
Pamela Kellett works as the Bird City Maryland Coordinator in support of the Maryland DNR Wildlife and Heritage Service. Bird City Maryland is a recognition program that encourages all communities (cities, campuses, and counties) in Maryland to implement sound avian conservation practices. Previously, Pamela worked as a schooner captain, a Pre-K forest school teacher, and an international project coordinator for trash interception systems located in rivers. She holds an M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. She can speak to your group about the benefits of being a Bird City, Campus, or County and the application process.
