Join us on October 9 at 6 PM to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with a special webinar highlighting migratory birds and the communities working to protect them in Maryland. If you are a conservation-minded bird enthusiast who wants to learn more about migratory birds and how we can protect them, then this webinar is for you!
Hosted by MBCP’s Executive Director Gabriel Foley, you’ll hear from a trio of folks actively working to conserve migratory birds. Lewis Grove, Director of Wind & Energy Policy at American Bird Conservancy, will explore the intersection of renewable energy and bird conservation, highlighting his efforts to ensure safe skies for migrants. Dr. Claire Nemes, a post-doctoral researcher at the National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, will present her latest research on critical stopover sites used by migrants in Maryland, offering new insights into where birds are resting and refuelling during their journeys. And finally, Pamela Kellett, Coordinator of MBCP’s Bird City Maryland, will share about the program’s accomplishments and why migratory birds deserve celebration.
This webinar will be recorded and made available afterward, so even if you can’t make it for the live discussion, be sure to sign up so you can have the recording sent to you. We are looking forward to celebrating migration with you!
