One of the rewards of being a program volunteer for MBCP’s Farmland Raptor Program is an invitation to attend a chick banding event, in which American Barn Owl or American Kestrel nestlings are weighed, aged, sexed, and outfitted with aluminum alloy leg bands that have a unique tracking number.  Read more

Chet Anderson has been a valued MBCP volunteer since 2021, monitoring American Barn Owl nest boxes with the Farmland Raptor Program. But the story of Chet’s connection to barn owls begins much earlier—back in the 1970s when Chet worked as a veterinarian at horse farms in central Maryland.
